Land Ho!

A for-profit physical zine dedicated to celebrating the world of One Piece!

F.A.Q.

ZINE SPECIFICSπŸ“ What is this zine about? What type of content should I expect to make/see?Land Ho! is our main physical zine that focuses on showcasing location based art and stories from the folks who live there. We Go! is our travel add-on that focuses on characters traveling within the world of One Piece and visiting new places!Merch for the zine will feature heavily on locations.πŸ“ What are the specs for this zine?Land Ho!’s physical zine will be A4 with around 80 pages.πŸ“ Will the zine be digital or physical?Land Ho! will be both a physical and digital zine with physical merch. We Go! will be purely digital.πŸ“ Is this zine for-profit or for-charity? How will contributors be compensated? This zine is for-profit. At minimum, all contributors will receive a digital bundle and have the ability to buy the zine at production value. If sales allow, we would like to give each contributor a free full bundle + shipping.πŸ“ Is NSFW allowed? What is the rating of the zine? This zine is strictly SFW.πŸ“ Where will the product be shipped from?Land Ho! will be shipping from the US.πŸ“ Will non-canon locations be allowed?Non-canon locations are allowed to be pitched. A non-canon location can be from the movies, OVAs, guidebooks, video games, or any other official content. You are not allowed to create locations for this zine.πŸ“ What will the location spread look like?We are aiming to have about 10 major locations from One Piece (i.e. major fights, arc/saga locations, important places) featured as spreads paired with written content and about 15-30 smaller locations (islands from the Blues, Paradise, and the New World) as both page art and companion pieces between writers and artists!CONTRIBUTOR INFORMATIONπŸ“ Can I apply for more than one role?Yes, but you will only be accepted for one role. Voluntary opportunities may come up during the zine in which artist role crossover may happen, but this is not guaranteed. Writers will only be allowed to create written works.πŸ“ Do I have to create a piece for both zines (Land Ho! and We Go!)?Not if you don't want to! The add-on zine is completely optional but if accepted contributors want to explore characters traveling across the world of One Piece, we encourage them to create for it!πŸ“ Do I have to create a new piece for the zine?Yes. All pieces for this zine must be created within the time frame of the zine. No prior works or wips are allowed.πŸ“ What is the age requirement of the zine?As we are a for-profit zine, all contributors must be over 18.πŸ“ Does my application need to include One Piece content? No, though One Piece content is preferred.πŸ“ Do I need to have a pitch for my application? You do NOT need to have any pitches ready for your application. However, all ARTIST and WRITER applicants will be asked to choose your top locations from lists provided in the application that would you like to create for and this WILL have an effect on your application. This is so that we can make sure we get as much representation of the world of One Piece as possible in our zine, as we will not be allowing duplicate location pieces outside of the laid out zine layout.MERCH Artist application will also have to select which merch types they would like to make in their application. The selection of your merch interest will not affect your application but we will be using these to compare your merch interest with your style suitability. This is not a final determiner.Upon acceptance into the server, MERCH Artists will be assigned a list of merch items that they will need to pitch from and all ARTISTS and WRITERS will be given a list of locations to pitch from. This will be based on your application.πŸ“ Will previous experience be needed in order to apply? No, zine experience is NOT required to apply! However, for Merch Artists, we are looking for people who have created physical merch in the past.πŸ“ Can I post WIPs during the creation period? No. Under no circumstances are you allowed to share WIPs be it in a post or a stream. There will be a preview period in which a preview of the zine’s pieces will be showcased on our social medias.πŸ“ How many contributors are you looking to accept? We are looking to accept the following number of contributors per role. These numbers may change due to application count.Writers: 10

Zine Requirements

FOR ALL CONTRIBUTORS:πŸ“ All contributors must be 18 or older at time of application.πŸ“ All contributors must have either a PayPal or eTransfer (Canada only).πŸ“ You must have a Discord account or be willing to make one. All communication for the zine will be done through Discord, no other platform will be used. You must be responsive to any pings or messages from the mod team.πŸ“ Contributors must be at at least post time skip in either the manga or the anime due to updates to location lore.πŸ“ You must be able to meet all deadlines laid out in our schedule. Failure to submit two check-ins starting with pitches will result in removal from the zine. Feedback will be given in this zine and you cannot opt out.β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€πŸ—ΊοΈβ”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€FOR WRITERS:- Will be required to create two written pieces for the zine totaling between 500 and 750 words each.- One (1) fic will be for a major location or "spread" and one (1) will be for a minor location.- Both major and minor locations will be determined by the IC and you will be given a list of locations to pitch from.- Types of writing include: narratives, letters, island descriptions (be it from a person or textbook perspective).- All fics are required to be from the perspectives of the people who live there, no visitors. These people must also be writing during the time period in which they are living there. For example: If you want to write Luffy on Dawn Island, it must be from between when he was a child until he set sail. Sanji in Germa needs to be when he was a child, etc.- Examples are: Iceburg writing a letter to Franky about W7, or a day in the life of Nojiko in Cocoyashi, or a thrilling description of Thriller Bark, etc.- There may be opportunities for small additional pieces of writing for this project, like short descriptions of small islands, legends, rumors, etc.β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€πŸ—ΊοΈβ”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€FOR SPREAD ARTISTS- Will be required to make a spread showcasing the location they are assigned.- This can be an aerial view, a street view, etc. Characters can be included but the focus should be on the location. Think Oda's lovely spreads of different places.- Spreads will be based off of a list of ten "major" locations that are helped picked by the Interest Check.β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€πŸ—ΊοΈβ”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€FOR PAGE ARTISTS:- Will be required to make a two art pieces for the main zine: one (1) full page art and one (1) companion piece. A companion piece is not necessarily spot art, but art that is in the same location as the written work that will also appear on the page.- Characters can be included, but the focus should be the location. For instance, the Baratie can have the cooks/Sanji in it, but they are just being active in the background of the piece, not the focus. The art can include landmarks that are key to the locations.- All page art and companion art will involve the locations that are listed in our application for you to choose from.β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€πŸ—ΊοΈβ”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€FOR MERCH ARTISTS:- Will be required to create 2 - 3 pieces of merch for the zine.- The pieces will focus on the world of OP, such as a Puffing Tom charm, or a globe standee, or a fauna "brochure" guide to sea kings.- Characters can be included to enhance the design, but we are not looking for a Zoro charm or SHs focused sticker sheet for example. Characters featured in location based pieces should be characters that live in those locations.β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€πŸ—ΊοΈβ”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€ADD-ON ZINEWe Go! is our add-on zine that focuses on traveling. This is your chance to write or draw characters in One Piece traveling from their current locations to locations they've never been or perhaps visiting old ones! Pieces could also be characters during their travel, perhaps taking a mode of transportation they've never taken before!Think Iceburg on Egghead, Zeff in Totto Land, or even Katakuri riding the Puffing Tom for the first time! All contributors are welcome and encouraged to take part in We Go!.For WRITERS, the max word count for your piece is 3,000 words. For ALL ARTISTS, you can either do a page or spread piece.
